CT Enterography Using Four Different Endoluminal Contrast Agents: A Comparative Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract Objectives To determine the most preferable endoluminal contrast agent among mannitol, polyethylene glycol (PEG), iohexol, and water by comparing various qualitative (distension, fold visibility, homogeneity) quantitative parameters (distension) along with artifacts patient feedback for computed tomography enterography (CTE). Methods This was a prospective study including 120 patients of age more than or equal to 18 years who were randomized equally into four groups. Group 1 given 1500 mL 3% mannitol solution, group 2 PEG, 3 20 iohexol dissolved in water, 4 plain water. CTE done images evaluated axial coronal planes. Various taken at level second part duodenum, jejunum, ileum ileocecal junction (ICJ). Artifacts also consideration. Results The distension grading, distension, homogeneity jejunum superior mesenteric artery, inferior artery renal on both sides abdomen, aortic bifurcation, common iliac deep pelvis abdomen ICJ significantly PEG as compared group, followed group. results calculated ANOVA test using p-value. In terms artifacts, best agent. Conclusions is suitable carry out CTE. Distension, are essential features better diagnostic outcome CTE, which PEG.

A Comparative Study in Bone Decalcification Using Different Decalcifying Agents

Aim: The aim of the study is to evaluate the efficacy of different decalcifying agent used to decalcify bone. Bone is the strongest part in the human. Two types of bones are seen cancellous bone and compact bone. Demonstration of bone is quite difficult than any other tissues. To obtain satisfactory paraffin or celloidin of bone inorganic calcium must be removed from the organic collagen matrix...

Denoising CT Enterography on GPU

CT enterography is a method of contrast enhanced diagnosis of small intestine from computed tomography examination. However, unlike the bones or other significant structures, automatic or semiautomatic examination of small intestine is almost impossible without the proper use of a denoising algorithm. We cannot wait for hours for a simple denoising algorithm in medical praxis, but current GPUs ...

Performance comparison of four commercial GE discovery PET/CT scanners: A monte carlo study using GATE

Combined PET/CT scanners now play a major role in medicine for in vivo imaging in oncology, cardiology, neurology, and psychiatry. As the performance of a scanner depends not only on the scintillating material but also on the scanner design, with regards to the advent of newer scanners, there is a need to optimize acquisition protocols as well as to compare scanner ...

In vivo small animal micro-CT using nanoparticle contrast agents

Computed tomography (CT) is one of the most valuable modalities for in vivo imaging because it is fast, high-resolution, cost-effective, and non-invasive. Moreover, CT is heavily used not only in the clinic (for both diagnostics and treatment planning) but also in preclinical research as micro-CT. Although CT is inherently effective for lung and bone imaging, soft tissue imaging requires the us...
